Since 1856 Savonnerie Fer a Cheval has been passing down recipes to each generation of master soap-makers. The factory is rooted in tradition and celebrates it’s heritage by continuing to craft soaps in old cauldrons according to a traditional method: pasting, graining out, boiling, washing and liquidation. The Fer a Cheval (which means “Horseshoe”) logo is proudly stamped with 7 nails representing good luck. One might say that luck has played a role in their success, but it is proven that their Marseille culture, respect for tradition, attention to detail and love of the environment has made Fer a Cheval an iconic Savonnerie.

The Ancestral cauldrons saponification process

Nearly 10 days are necessary for the elaboration of our cauldron-cooked soap according to the Marseille process. This ancestral know-how transmitted by Master soap makers through generations is still used to this day.
